HARTWELL H.K. BLAKE (Kaua‘i)
Hartwell Blake is an attorney who served as county counsel to the County of Kaua‘i for many years. He holds a JD from the Truman Wesley Collins College of Law at Willamette University; a Master of Public Administration from Idaho State University and a BBA in Marketing from University of Hawai‘i. He attended Kamehameha School for Boys and was a picker for Kaua‘i Pineapple Company during summers. His legal career included private practice with Case & Lynch in Lihu‘e, Dermott & McDermott in Pocatello, Idaho, as well as serving as a public defender in Idaho and Oregon and Deputy Attorney General in Idaho. Mr. Blake served in the United States Army from 1966-1970, stationed in Georgia, California, Massachusetts, Viet Nam and Schofield Barracks. Now retired from legal practice, Mr. Blake is a part-time instructor in remedial reading in Koloa Elementary School and an instructor in the About Face program in Waimea High School. Mr. Blake makes his home in Koloa, where he was born and reared, with his wife Yvette. They are the parents of two children.
