The Royal Brewery photo by Historic Hawaii Foundation
The Royal Brewery buidling was originally the home of "Primo" beer and later "Royal" beer. The Honolulu Brewing and Malting company commissioned a New York architect who was experienced in building breweries. As a result, the building looks very similar, and at the time was also very comparable, to many breweries on the mainland United States.
The building is made of steel, gray stone and brick. Though the last beer brewed there in 1960, it is still used today.
