Hawaiian Life Insurance Building
1311 Kapi‘olani Blvd.
Built: 1951
Architects: Vladimir Ossipoff and Wayne Owens

The Hawaiian Life Insurance Building was the first high-rise office building on Kapi‘olani Boulevard  and completed the connection between Downtown Honolulu and Waikīkī.  An attractive design element is the rainbow of colors on the vertical sun screen projections of the façade.  Unfortunately, these were recently repainted in a monochromatic scheme.
