Although this building is less than 50 years old, it meets National Register Criteria exceptional importance. This building is an exceptional example of the work of a master architect, Vladimir Ossipoff (1907-1998), who was the subject of a recent exhibition and publication of the Honolulu Academy of Arts. Also, the building is believed to be the first chapel built on a military base specifically as a Jewish place of worship.  This building is a landmark at Makalapa Gate.
