What is Membership in Historic Hawaii?

Historic Hawai‘i Foundation invites you to join your voice with others who share a passion for historic buildings, sites and communities across the Hawaiian Islands. By becoming a member of Historic Hawai‘i Foundation (HHF), you will support the only statewide organization dedicated to advocating for the preservation of Hawaii’s historic sites.

Founded in 1974 by concerned citizens who saw the need to protect the Islands’ irreplaceable historic and cultural legacy from destruction, Historic Hawai‘i Foundation has become the driving force behind preservation in the state. Historic Hawai‘i Foundation takes the responsibility of uniting with the community, bringing technical resources to those who need it , promoting strong systems that encourage preservation, and working to increase awareness and develop a preservation ethic in Hawai‘i.

Historic Hawai‘i Foundation unites those who believe the history of Hawai‘i is worth keeping.

While they are known as “members” of Historic Hawai‘i Foundation, the organization is not separate from the membership. The members are the foundation.
"Developing and perpetuating an ethic of historic preservation is not something that one person or even a hundred people can do – it takes a foundation of thousands of people to turn the tide."
